  • Maya Attributes and User Attributes

    Hello,

I have been using the vrayUserColor nodes along with the vray user attributes for mattes and they work great. I was wondering if it is possible to link maya attributes to the
vrayUserColor node instead of the user attribute. For example in the image attatched I want to know if its possible to take the rgb values from the Matte 1 attribute and use that instead of adding the user attributes and typing "Matte1=1,0,0".

    Thanks!

Yes, it is but they must have a special prefix.

    See here http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...865#post545865 for details.

Fantastic! One more thing, is it possible to apply the same principle but for linking a string attribute to variables created within in a file texture.

I haven't tried, but I think it will work. The name of the dynamic attribute must begin with "vrayUserString_" followed by the V-Ray user attribute name (the tag that you want to use in the File node). So in you case, you need to create a dynamic string attribute with name "vrayUserString_map"; then you can use <map> in the file name of File nodes.
