Hi.
I red this thread because I have the same issue.
Using XGen interactive grooming in combination with VRayHairNextMtl.
It is not possible to plug a 2D Texture in the Dye Color input.
Do I have to update to vRay 5?
I am using vRay Next at the moment.

Attaching a 2d texture to Dye color of VRayHairNextMtl seems to work fine for me.
Can you please check the scene that I attached and share if it is OK on your side?
