  • caustics with ggx? noisey...

    Hi,

I am trying to render some caustic effects on a car wheel that is spinning/ motion blurred.

Typically for caustics I use a regular chrome material with phong reflection type. I am playing around with GGX and getting nice results/ feel I have more control over phong because with the ggx value I can make the caustic kind of bloom. But I can't seem to clean up the noise anymore.

Should I not use GGX for this?

caustics settings- multiplier 1, search distance 1, max photons 60, max density 0.
spotlight settings- caustics subds- 1000, caustics multiplier- 1

Which V-Ray version are you using? Also, which part of the attached image shows the problem?

    Best regards,

Do you get the same with caustics turned off?
What about caustics turned on, but using blinn (for example) instead of ggx?
