  • Vray RT on dual GTX 1080's

    Hi,

I recently bought a new workstation with Windows 10 Pro and 2 x GTX 1080 graphics cards for fast preview renders, interactive lighting/texture setup etc.

It was working really well and rendering really large models quickly...
...then something happened! I think it may have been a Windows 10 update (as most people know they are pretty much forced on us now whether it's convenient or not).

Anyway, using the same model that was rendering so well (and in fact anything at all), just crashes the renderer when using GPU! It doesn't matter if I use CUDA or OpenCL, it's just 'broken'.

Assuming it was a Windows update that broke something, what version of the GTX 1080 drivers are recommended? I'm using Maya 2017 on Win 10 Pro with Nvidia GTX 1080 cards and Vray 3.40.06

Have you tried installing the latest drivers from the NVidia website?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Yes, that was one of the first things I tried!

When V-Ray RT GPU starts, it spawns a new process, vray.exe which is a console application.
Can you share the log from that console window and the log from Maya. Maybe there is something that can give us a clue what is going on.

        Thanks !
