  • to have dome light contribute on top of environment override

    Hi,
I have environment map plugged into environment override for reflection and refraction. Now I add a dome light but it seems that it replaces the reflection and refraction coming from environment override.

Is there a way to simply add the dome light effect "on top of" the current environment override effect? For example, say I like the lighting and everything coming from environment override. Now if I want to add little by little some contribution from a newly created dome light without taking anything away from the current environment override setup, what can I do to achieve that?

    Thanks,
    Jason

If you don't care about the reflections from the dome light, you can disable the "Affect reflections" checkbox in the dome light. This way you'll at least make the diffuse light to come through. It works in Max so I hope this works in Maya too.

Thanks Alex. Unfortunately, I do want to keep the reflection coming from Environment override and add the dome light on top. It's not typical what I do but for this project I would like to see if it is possible to do it with setting render layers to render the scene twice.

Can you not just add the original environment texture to the dome light texture, and plug the result into the dome light?

        Best regards,
