  • extra matte in refraction

    Hello

I would like to get an extra matte for objects seen inside refractions
I tried it with a separate Maya Render Layer (Render Setup) as it is called now,
but every time I change geometry it messes up the connections.
I am sure there is a way to get a matte from render elements,
perhaps by combining a Extra_Tex with a Vray material overwride (refraction).

Would be very grateful for instructions

found it - soon easy fix - just the "affect all channels" in the glass material

      Hello
works great with the "affect all channels" on the glass material
only problem is, that the overall object ID gets bad antialiasing on the object using that glass shader
"consider for antialiasing" did not solve

Which channel is that? ObjectID or multimatte?

I used Multimatte using Object IDs (not Material IDs)
          I will try "pure" ObectID?s

The ObjectID render element itself is not anti-aliased, because it contains integer information, instead of color information for the pixels, so I'd recommend sticking to the multimattes if you want them to be anti-aliased.
I couldn't replicate your problem with the multimatte, though. Would it be possible to share the scene?

              Hello
now I got a sample seen together and it perfectly proves, transparent mattes (refraction affect all channels) generate dodgy antialiasing.
              1. beauty
              2. matte without refraction affect all channels
              3. matte with refraction affect all channels
              I uploaded the
It would be great to find a solution for that
              Thanks

Do you mean the parts where the edge of the glass pane creates a slight difference color variation in the mask? What would you consider to be the normal behvaior?
