  • Override Bit-Depth per Renderelement

    Hi all,

I was wondering if it is possible to set a certain Bit-Depth per Renderelement without settings up a separate pass.
In my case I render everything in 16bit Half-float, but I want to render the Z-Depth as a 32-bit Full-float. I saw that this is possible in 3dsMax.
Is there a way to do this in Maya. I am happy to inject an attribute in a vrscene file or override a parameter on the plugin. It seems that the global EXR-settings will override it no matter what.

In the 3.6 update and in the nightly builds, we've added an option to force 32-bit output for certain render elements in a multi-channel OpenEXR file. This only works for multi-channel files though. It should be enough to do what you need.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

      Hey Valdo,

thx for your quick feedback. It's really helpful to have an answer within a day. Great work!!!
I think it's awesome that you support this feature in the next release. Unfortunately we are not rendering multi-channel exr's. Would be great to support this for single exr's as well.

      Cheers,

      Michael
