Frame buffer Jpg instead of PNG

The frame buffer is set by default to save images as PNG... how can I set it to always default to jpgs instead?
I always have to change to Jpg...is this a frame buffer thing or maybe Windows 7 settings somewhere?

I'm not sure if this is by default, to me it looks like the first item in the list.
Same thing happens when you save image from Maya frame buffer, the first item in the list is selected when dialog opens.

Do you often save images manually from the VFB? Wouldn't be a better option to specify file type and name from Image File Output options and save the file automatically?

That's not the same Svetlozar, is not for animation, I only work with still images from the frame buffer to show to production designer, I just can't find a way to change it...also PNGs take quite a while to save , Jpgs are very fast, this slows me down quite a bit , on top with all the other Maya glitches.
Anything else you can think of?

The only awkward way is to send the image to Mayas render view , there is already set to Save image as jpg.....but I hate to open that window now that Vray frame buffer does so much.

Every time I change from PNG to jpg manually, it goes back to PNG....in the same Maya session.
Maybe that is something that needs to be improved in the FB save dialogue window?

One more thing then as you pointed out, if it chooses the first item on the list, then is there a way for me to move Jpg option to top of the list so it becomes the default?

Thanks Stezza but the batch render option does not give me the Render Buffer color correction controls before I save the image, I really just wanted the jpg option to stick....but maybe that is just not possible.

I'd like to bump this request. I'm also struggling with the annoyance of the PNG as default for the Image save in the v5 of the VFB still. Any update to fix this to JPG as default?

The VFB will remember the last used image format in the session, does this help?
This made its way some time ago and it should be in the last few official releases.

I came looking for a solution to the same problem, except in a different V-Ray plugin. The VFB in V-Ray 5 for FormZ does not save the last used image format in the session. The V-Ray for FormZ plugin is developed by AutoDesSys using your SDK, do you know if this VFB fix has been implemented in the SDK?

I apologize if this is a bit off the Maya thread, but since the problem was the same, I figured it was relevant.

I think remembering the last used paths required changes both to the VFB and V-Ray for Maya. My guess is that this may require a change on the FormZ side.
It would be best to contact the AutoDesSys guys about this.
