I don't ever remember noticing this before, and this isn't a particularly heavy file geometry wise, so why is my scene file taking 1.5-2 minutes "compiling geometry" before beginning a render into the VFB?

on a related note, any possibility to shorten the wait time so users can see the first pass of noisy pixels show up in VFB faster? I remember Vlado commented that each renderer translates scenes differnetly and some renderer would ignore certain stuff. Still I hope there is way or maybe making an option so users can see the scene start rendering faster.always curious...

Unfortunately I can't share it, but the scene is only about 21MB in size, and 1.3 million polys (I was surprised it was this large, but still doesn't seem all that huge). There's little to no history in the scene, and also just a single node with simple animation on it. There is a small amount of per-face shader assignment (not my choice, but that's the way the texturing artist set it up).
