  • *ID pass behind transparent glass

I've got a scene like this, with multi colored balls behind glass. I'm pretty new to the whole passes thing in vray, so I'm trying to come up with something where we can tweak the colors of the ball materials (two vraymtls in a vraymtlblend node). The problem is that I can't figure out how to do it so the glass doesn't block the balls and show up as black cubes in any pass I try like materialID, objectID etc. I thought I could make an object properties for the glasses and set it to not generate render elements, but I suppose that only works with the matte object selected. Is there a simple way to do this without breaking the thing into a bunch of layers. I really only need an ID for the white and the red balls and a beauty layer. If not, mabe setting the ID to -1 could remove it from the element or something?

Check that your glass material is set to all channels. Advanced Refraction > Affect Channels > Affect All Channels.

That worked to make it show up, but it's not coming through in my refractions past what looks like one or two bounces maybe. weird. Multimatte does the same thing.

Can you post what the Multimatte RE looks like. That should work here.

Just getting back around to this... Different object, but same shader and scene. I can upload a scene if anyone wants to poke around in it.

Yes, a scene would be helpful.

              Best regards,
