  • Vray Fur issue

    Hi
We're having some problems with Vray fur not respecting subdivision surfaces or spreading evenly across a surface.
With the viewport subdivision override enabled the mesh renders as we expect, however the vray fur on the object seems to ignore the subdivision.
Please see attached examples, one was rendered with subdivs on and one without, they both look identical (and wrong)?

Is there an option we need to enable for the fur to respect the mesh?

    Cheers
    Jim

    Hi Jim,

Currently, V-Ray Fur is not respecting the Viewport Subdivision. A solution for that would be to use OpenSubdivs attribute and smooth your geometry at render time. See the following post for more details:

        Hi, an update.

The OpenSubdivs attribute did smooth out the fur so that it looks correct, however this appears to work across the whole mesh, it doesn't seem to work properly with selected faces. We used a Vray fur length map to solve the issue of where the fur appears which worked for us but it might not fix the problem in all situations.....so looking forward to this function working properly in Vray.

        Cheers
        Jim
