  • Hair/Fur sampler won't work in Cuda

I'm currently doing render tests between VRay CPU and Cuda in VRay v4.03.02.00001 and I have a character that has a painted map for hair color steaks. In CPU I get a great looking predictable render using the VRay Mtl Hair 3 shader and a hair sampler node. When I switch to Cuda using a VRay Hair Next Mtl shader and a hair sampler node I don't get a render at all. The VRay frame buffer window just re-shows whatever my previous render was with no changes or updates.

In the following Chaos Group documentation it says that the hair/fur samplers are compatible with Cuda but It doesn't seem to be true as far as I can see: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...orted+Features

Can anyone tell me if there is a special method to make this work in Cuda or is the documentation a little over optimistic??

It's supposed to work. Are you using xgen groomable splines or archives? I don't remember if there were some limitations, but point me in the right directions with more details and I'll be able to check.

Does hairNext work with CPU in this case?
It seems to work fine for me in simple scene. Any chance you can send us a scene?

I'll have to check my scene to see if it functions in CPU with the VRay Next shader. I'll look into sending you a scene file so you can replicate my problem, just need to get permissions to do that first.

OK Yolov it turns out you are correct the hair sampler does work in Cuda and the hair next shader. The color changes from my ramp were not noticeable but then I increased the bounces under the advanced tab to a much higher number and now I can see the colors changing. Thanks you.
