Polygon facets appear when Bump Mult is set to 1.0 or higher in the openSubdiv model with normal map.

Is there a way to work around other than adding more subdivs?

Confirmed with V-Ray Next Maya Update 1.1

Is this a Bump shadeing problem on low polygons that hasn't been solved for a long time?

Thanks for the report and the provided files. We are aware of the issue, it is logged in our system (Bug-tracker id: VMAYA-8484) for our developers to investigate. Increasing the geometry's subdivisions indeed reduces the starkness of the facets and can be used as a workaround.

Actually I could not reproduce the issue in Update 2 with the scene that you provided, but I will look again.

          Best regards,
          Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.
