  • Fog in Referenced scene not working?

    Hi Guys,

I'm wondering if anyone can help. My issue is, I have a world scene file with for in it which works fine. I need to reference this file, along with some vehicles into a new scene that holds the cameras and animation. The problem is, when the world file is referenced in, the fog no longer renders.

Anyone ever have this problem or know a fix? Ideally, i don't want to import the reference (and I tried this and it didn't fix the issue).

    Thanks
    Matt

    Hi Matt,

where do you apply the Fog? VrayVolumeGrid? In the Vray Settings/Override/Volumetrics? Or do you apply it on an object? I think you applied the Fog with override and then when you load in the World File into a new on it doesn't appear because the referenced File might not take the Overrides because you already have some overrides in the new Scene.
Have you tried to apply the Fog in the Scene with the Camera and Animations?

    Cheers
    Tobias

      Hi Tobias,

Thanks for getting back to me, very much appreciated! So your reply got me thinking. I created a new blank scene and referenced in the world and the FOG is rendering! Then I imported the vehicles, and it still works! So it must be something in my 'animation' scenes that is doing it.

I then went back into the original 'animation' scene and saw that 'Use Environment Volume' wasn't ticked....of course it wasn't, as in THIS scene there isn't an env volume...(because it's in the referenced one!)

Ticked it....and hey presto...the FOG is now rendering!!!

HUGE HUGE thanks for putting me on the right path! You've saved me days of fiddling on a project that is already tight on time!

      Thanks,
      Matt
