  • Curvature Sample Spread

I can't seem to get any map working inside the Curvature node to break up the edges, I've noticed the same problem in this tread https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...-sample-spread
It should be easy to apply a texture map or a Maya noise/fractal but nothing works.
    Has anyone figured this out?
Windows 10 Next 4.30 dec build Maya 2019

Edited...also tried with VrayDirt invert normals but the result is not as good and is difficult to make the mesh wireframe not show up in the render.
Also tried VrayCurvature texture, that one was even more complicated.

It seems to work fine with it as the mask in a mask map, though that thread does seem to suggest it was available as a map within the curvature map itself, at least at some point, though it is not in Vray 5.
    This is in Max btw.

Thank you, yes In Maya is not working, I'll see if someone on support has a workaround.

Oh I see, it doesn't even work as simply as that. Bad news
        Sure they'll fix it though

Okay now is beginning to look better, I ended up using a multiplyDivide node as the mask for the Blend Material and not the curvature, I wish the documentation was updated for this node so is easier to understand.( don't really know if I did it right though)
Again, using the Curvature as a mask for Blend material and plugin in a texture to Sample Spread just destroys the curvature node.

Thanks Franco, well after a long weekend in procedural hell (But fun) ...I arrived at an acceptable result, also added a bump for the chipped paint showing the rust underneath, the only limitation and I saw some 3dmax posts about this
is the lack of control in concave an convex, right now the chipped paint falls in those areas but ideally it should only be scratched in convex surfaces.
Maybe Chaos will improve in the future or just point to something I missed.
In any case this asset won't be very close to camera anyhow.
