  • Renders constantly get hung up on last buckets with refractions

This seems to have been a problem as long as I can remember -- why does Vray get hung up on the last couple of buckets when rendering with refractions? We are talking orders of magnitude longer to finish these buckets than very similar areas nearby.

I have found a workaround since the implementation of resumable rendering, which is to have this turned on and then kill these problem buckets and restart the render. Distributing these buckets to smaller ones immediately clears the problem and they will render in a fraction of the time. By why does this happen all the time, and can this not be fixed? It literally doubles the render time of some images.

    Hi Sony boy
This happens to me every time when i render with vray gpu and with buckets, when the buckets take refractions it Will render for so long... Thats why i switched to progresive render, it is faster with vray gpu for sketchup, a Lot of vray users suffer with this topic

I'm CPU rendering into the VFB. I cannot use the progressive renderer as I need cryptomattes.

The cryptomatte works with progresive and IPR with VRay 5 +

Clever workaround with Resumable rendering, Thanks!

There were talks about using LC for adaptive bucket splitting to avoid cases of stuck buckets like this one, I will check the progress on that

            Best,
            Muhammed
