  • VRAY texture baking with textures projected from Maya camera.

I've not been able to bake textures with Vray with texture maps that use camera projection in Maya. Is there a specific way to do that, or is it just not supported. It would seem to me like a pretty useful/basic functionality. I just get black when I try to bake a texture.

It should work with the Maya native baking (Render Settings> Baking Engine Settings > Baking engine > Texture Baking), not the V-Ray one. Note that the projection POV is going to change.

So Vray is not used in the baking? Are you referring to Maya render engine?

Both methods use V-Ray; the one I mentioned does it through Maya. Check the one in the render settings (not the V-Ray toolbar).

I would never have expected that one method worked but not the other. Thank you for the tip, I'll test it out.

Works fine for me I did it the other day using vray bake options at 8k. Eont like Maya native one in hypershade and limited to 4k.
