  • GPU + 16-bit Float Textures + System Memory Crash

If all three conditions are true: Using GPU, using 16-bit Float Texture Format, and Use System Memory for Textures, V-Ray aborts the first render attempt, and then says there are no GPU cards in the system until Maya is complete restarted.

Use System Memory for Textures is the lynch-pin in this scenario, it seems. Give it a try; see if it happens for you!

Hi, thanks for posting. Are you using RTX or CUDA? I have tested both on my system but could not reproduce an issue. I am testing with Maya 2024 and V-Ray 6.20.01 on a RTX4070. Could you share your texture that you have issues with or your scene?

I cannot reproduce on my side either, do you have multiple GPUs in your machine?
How much system memory do you have?
Like what my colleague Vladimir advised, a scene will be helpful
      Thanks!

I'm running RTX, 128GB RAM; nowhere near maxing it for this scene. My system has 3 Nvidia A5000's in it, and normally V-Ray is rock-solid. Let me see if I can isolate a material or geometry which might be at the root of the issue...

Can you try to render the scene with a single GPU?
We have an issue with multiple GPUs and Out Of Core Textures(Use System Memory for Textures), that leads to crashes with multiple cards. This is about Nvidia drivers, we are communicating with Nvidia to find a solution
