  • Rendering Objects with wrong facenormals

    Hey...
    happy new year to everyone...
I have a problem, because I use a lot of imported CAD-data where sometimes the normals of the polys show in the wrong direction. When I render it in maya or mentalray they worked fine, but with vray they are totally black. Now when I reverse them they also don't look right (sometimes they do, sometimes not). Is there a button in the materials or renderglobals that ignors the normals?

    Thanks a lot,
    Michael

I dunno where the button is in maya, in max it's in the VRaymaterial as "reflect on backside" and "2-sided".

Mind you you will still face issues with passes that rely on normals, like AO, Normalpasses etc.

    Regards,
    Thorsten

There is a known issue currently, which should be fixed for the next official build.

Great, thanks. Can't wait for the next build, will GPU-rendering be included...?

It will not go into V-Ray for Maya just yet.
