  • multiple displacement maps on single object

I'm working with a character that was created for a previous project. It has separate shaders for the head and body with corresponding UV sets and texture maps. I'm plugging the displacement maps into their respective shading group nodes, but when I render only one of the maps will actually displace the mesh. The other appears to have no affect at all. If I disconnect one or the other they work individually. However, when they are both connected only one works. Is there a trick to make this work?

    Thanks,

Not currently, we need to implement this, we have it noted for some time.
The only solution for now would be to split the mesh in several pieces.

I think we found a workaround solution using the UV chooser. Will update with details when I see how it works. Maybe Vray could script up a way to make the connections automatically.

We came up with a work around for now where we took the UV's and combined them into one single UV space. Then we had to combine the texture maps into one huge texture map. It works, but it would be great to get this working properly in Vray. I'd like to hear your solution using the UVchooser if you've found a way of getting that to work.

        Thanks,

Hey Tim Jones, I think Adrian Dimond has the solution. ;D

Adrian had a good plan, but it didn't work. Would still love to see this get fixed or find a work around besides making one huge map.

Yep, we are working on resolving this.
