  • Need Vray fur or Maya Hair carpet tips

I am not sure I put this in right section, anyway is it possible to achieve this like carpet using Vray fur or Hair. And if yes can anyone explain? I need this soft look, that I can not achieve using Vray fur.
    Thanks!

For the "soft" look you will probably need to make the fur a bit transparent (or map the transparency along the strands). Unfortunately this will also increase the render times a bit.

A bit? Hehe Transparency mapping with Vray adds a good 3x more at render.

Well, it can always be worse Also, the hair shader (both in 3ds Max and Maya) has some additional optimizations for GI, which are not present in VRayFur.

Will you be able to develop support for Maya fur? I am not sure is it even possible to create this like carpet with Maya Hair ....

... (or map the transparency along the strands).
BTW how to do that in Maya?

[EDIT] Never mind I found it!
