  • Rendering black on render farm

    Hi,
    this is driving me crazy.
When I render locally with or with out DR, everything is fine. Now if I render on the farm, I get an image without the lights working. The object with VraylightMtl are visible and I can see the reflection.
The render farm render the image fine if I do it as a DR from my machine. This only is the case when rendering on the farm through our render manager (Smedge).
All the machine have the vray SP1.5 and Maya 2011.
Any clue about what is going on?

Another question, why doing a prepass for the Irradiance Map reduces flicker? What is different than rendering the IM during the final pass?

    Thanks.

I discovered that if I open the file on one of the render slave, all the lights intensity have been change to "inf" instead of their value, which means that all the light were off.
I have to figure what is happening.

I remember something like that was logged as a known bug and already fixed in the later nightlies. But Vlado has to confirm that.

After chasing my tail like a mad dog... I finally found a way to get the farm to render the images.
My original lights had an intensity set in watts, I change it back to default and the scene is now rendering as expected.
Something else I notices is that for example 1 light had a value of 30 watts, when I change it to default, the value change to something like 9000. On another light with 30 watts, when I changed it to default the value changed to something like 500. Is this a normal behaviour. i would expect that whatever value as default translate to a value in watts and vis versa. is this normal?

It is normal, yes - that way the light preserves its intensity. The issue with the "inf" numbers is also fixed now.

          Best regarsd,

            Thank you Vlado.
I might to have to update the all farm to the latest build then.
