  • Proxies always come with uvSet named map1 - even if it did not exist before

    Hello Gentlemen!

We have another issue with proxies over here. As described above if you take a sphere -> rename uvset map1 to "whatever" -> create a proxy -> you get a new object with uvSets "whatever" and an empty "map1"...this is sometimes confusing the renderer and you get wrong uv-mapping.

It would be very nice if this issue could be fixed soon, since we start a new project next week and i would not like to workaround that again for 10000 proxies

    regards
    Oli

We were looking at this issue, but currently there is no way to fix it. This is because of the way proxies are implemented in Maya and some Maya API limitiations. We can't remove the the default map1, but the more serious problem is, that if you try to edit the uv set after creating the proxy, you will break it. So... don't edit it. I didn't notice a problem with map1, it's added at the end of the list if not used. Can you notice if your problem with map1 and rendering exists even without editing the uv set? If you edit the uv set, Maya will return no uvs and vray will render black.
