  • layered texture node clamps displacement

I cant use the layered texture node to mask 32 bit displacement. It seems to clip the displacement below zero. (I have terrain that I want to push down). Mentalray seems to handle it right so this might be a bug?

Have you unchecked the "Allow negative shader colors" option?

I also noticed that bahavior. seems like the "Allow negative shader colors" is not transported to the layered texture node itself. Been working around that stuff for a while now and didnĀ“t get a satisfying result yet. also while dragging on any alpha channel while in rt causes maya to crash instantly. (only when using an added vraydisplacement node. Not when using the standard maya displacement node)
      best regards,

We'll check it out... which blending mode are you using in the layered texture?

          Best regards,

            Hi Aquazum,
What V-Ray/Maya versions are you using? Also what OS are you running? We can't reproduce the crash with RT that you described and we need some more information about it.

            Thanks in advance!

The problem is still present in 2.25.01. If you simply take two 32 bit exr displacement maps which contain both positive and negative information and layer them using over mode with a mask, the negative info becomes clipped.

                Hi Dmitry,

Yes, we did reproduce that one, thanks. We have trouble reproducing the crash that Aquazum was talking about in his post.
