  • render difference between 2.00.03 and 2.00.04

    Hi,

I'm getting a weird "blown out" with 2.00.04 in maya 2012, osx
scene is pretty big, but i could strip it to 1 object i guess.

exact same scene rendered with 2.00.03:

this is not a srgb or linear difference, it could be that i set the sampler to "fixed" in the 2.00.04 render, but i got the blowing out with fixed and dmc

    Hi,
Do you have a VRaySun/Sky and no Physical camera in the scene?

The old VRay have been adjusting the sun's intensity, when there was no physical camera in order produce almost correct results.
These mechanism is removed, because it causes problems in RT.

You'll get the same result if you multiply the sun's intensity by 0.0625 manually.

        Sorry for the inconvenience.

Yep, as Theodor pointed out, in older builds the sun intensity was artificially reduced when rendering from a non-physical camera. However this hack caused some other issues and we eventually removed it.

          Best regards,
          Vlado

            ok that's good to know.

but can I humbly ask where I can find the changelog for this version?
I know the nightlies had these neat changelog files with every build.
but I can't find it for 2.00.04, maybe I'm not looking good enough.
(btw did you receive my mail regarding the nightlies, Vlado? )

The installer has a checkbox "Show change log" (enabled by default).
And after the installation has finished and the checkbox is enabled, the change log will be opened in your favorite text editor.

The file is installed in c:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\Maya 2011 for x64\docs\vray4maya_changelog.txt (it depends on the version you have, of course).
