  • lightdome and environment material override

    hi,

when I am using the vray lightdome for hdri lighting, the environment override in the additional vray material override doesn't work. e.g. if I want a different reflection map for a special material it is not possible this way. my workaround is, to make an reflection override in the environment override of the render settings with my hdri sphere and generally don't use the lightdome for reflections. then my environment override in the material will work fine. But that is not a very smart solution. I think, there is no reason, that this should not work with the lightdome directly.

I second that. However there is attribute called environment priority, but I am not sure what it does I was hoping it would specify which of the environments it traces for final ray. In anycase, what you may want to explore is the dim reflection distance attribute. If you set it to a high value like 10000, it will trace all objects in scene however not the dome light and instead trace your reflective override in the shading group.
