  • Matte Shadow ignore double sided

When using a matte object with shadows (either in obj properties or material override) it ignores the double sided attribute on shape nodes and you get no shadow if the normals are pointing away from the camera. I use a white shadow color on the override.

I use the latest VRay 2.0 for Maya 2012.

    Best Regards,
    Max

Is the matte object the one that casts shadows, or the one that receives them?

I think we generally ignore the the double sided attribute (in the sense that we never look at it) for the moment.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Would be great if the matte could take the double sided into consideration.

In this specific case where we had very buggy geometry with flipped normals on some surfaces it became imposible for us to do a mask shadow pass and we had to resort to a very bright standard material with shadows instead... Not the optimal outcome..
