  • RT and SSS shader

    Hi guys,

I got a problem here. I am using Vray 2 in Maya 2012.
When I use the RT engine (interactive rendering) my VrayFastSSS shader looks very different compared to when I do a "standard" render.
The shader appears very dark and desaturated.
Is that normal? Right now I am applying a standard VrayMat to my object while I am adjusting lights (using RT) and once i am finished I reapply the VRayFastSSS for final rendering.

So is RT not really supporting VrayFastSSS shaders or do I have to flip a switch?

    Thanks for any help

For the moment, the sss2 material won't render properly (it requires support for prepasses, which the RT engine does not have currently). However for newer builds, there will be an option to save the sss illumination map from a standard render, and then use this map for rendering in the RT engine.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

The next service pack will probably come out around November.
