  • RoundCorners on VRMesh

    Oh dear..
RoundCorners works perfectly for component rendering in tests on an engineering pre-vis (one of the reasons I won the contract).
The fidelity of the sourced originals means there's no way I can keep all the components in memory.. tadaaaa, VRayProxy to the rescue.
    RoundCorners doesn't work on VRMeshes

eeeks! .. or please tell me I'm missing something!

This is because of the way V-Ray Round Edges works. Round Edges effect uses bump mapping to smooth out the edges of the geometry during render time so it does not generate any geometry that could be baked into V-Ray Proxy object.

Ah OK thank you for the clarification Marti. I was hoping it might be an oversight that could be fixed in a nightly, but I'll try to find a workaround.

The round edges functionality requires adjacency information for the mesh (which vertex is connected to which other vertices and similar) and unfortunately that information is lost when the mesh is converted to a proxy.

        Best regards,

I only act like I know everything, Rogers.
