Did anyone get a chance to look at my file ?
Note that the .hdr file is linear and the .jpg one is not. In order for you to work in identical gamma you need to add Input gamma (VRay Additional attribute) to the .jpg file node and set it to gamma 2.2.
Make sure that the reflection of the Base material is disabled and the GI texture in the environment roll-out is set to black.
You will still get some difference in the output, which is due to the .jpg file saturation. If you open both files in PS in example you will see the difference.
If you want reflections on the floor you should use this approach instead: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/200R...nim.htm#basics

          I hope this helps.

In Maya, we also support the reflections option of the Maya "Use Background" material, which works very similar to matte objects. But for full integration of all effects, it would be best to follow the tutorial that Zdravko posted.
