  • UV not sticking

    Any thoughts on this strange issue?

    It looks as if the texture coordinates are getting lost in translation. Using rendertime subdivs, 2 levels.

    2.2 Maya 2010 Winx64

    We are using maya geoCaches, then sending .vrscene files to the farm.

    Do you get any warnings about the surface having duplicate faces?

      No, it seems intermittent. Sometimes a translation to .vrscene is fine for the entire shot, sometimes it's broken. It does seem isolated to this piece of geometry though. I'll do a sanity check on the model.

        We dug a little deeper into the renderfarm logs and found the error. We missed it before since it only showed up for certain frames.


        [2012/Mar/2|01:16:45] warning: Some faces of Seq_05_Shot_03_Finaling_008__overshirtShape1Deform ed@mesh1865@subdivGeometry were removed because they were duplicates of other faces.


        Is this caused by something in the scene or an error during translation?

          It is caused sometimes by a particular configuration of the vertices for the faces; it does not mean there is an error somewhere in the scene or the translation. We did however have a bug with UVs when this happened. This is already fixed for the latest stable/nightly builds.
