  • Texture reference doesn't work with projected textures (urgent)

    Hi,
    Like the title say, it looks like texture reference (in Texturing ---> create texture reference object) does'nt work with a texture which is projected (camera mapped).
    I have shader with some projections, so it doesn't work for me...

    Is it hard to fix this ?

    Hi,
    Is there a bug ?

    Here a cube with a checker projected in a tri planar mapping. I create a texture reference :



    I set the rotateX of the cube to 44 :

    All is fine, the texture reference work.

    I set the rotateX of the cube to 45 :

      It works fine here. Which V-Ray for Maya version is that?
      Can you attach the scene?

          Hello ,

          We are not sure if this issue is related to Vray or Maya itself , cause Maya Software , and Mental Ray produce the same issue !

            Yes it is very stange.
            And i saw the problem is just on the tri planar projection. I don't know if we can create a work-around.

              Im having a similar issue with vray proxy, but I think it maybe just vray proxy does not support texture reference object? is it possible to extend support for this feature?

                Do you want to use another proxy for the reference, or just a mesh?

                  Since a texture reference is a pure maya connection I think a regular mesh should do the trick. In my case I just turn on "display full mesh" for proxy and make a texture reference from it, so what maya does is just copy the transform/shape node and make a connection from it to the original shape.
