  • MultiMatte/Materal ID pass-through VrayBlendMat

    Hi.

I want to post this because it was always a issue i really dont like with the blendmaterial and makes a rendersetup more complicated as it should.

    Situation.

2 materials (or more) with 2 different material id in the shading group, are connected to vrayblend shader. If I render out my passes the material ids are not visible because of the blend material. I understand the problem and now other solutions, but is it possible via pass-through flag inside vray to get the ids visible in the output?

    Thx for Feedback,

Which V-Ray version are you using? I thought this was implemented a while ago.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

latest build vlado. maybe i make a horrible mistake in the setup. but i didn't find a option like that in den vray material id attributes or in the VrayBlendMtl.

maybe my question is not clearly understandable. so i try again what i want. i'm sure vray is not able to do this right at the moment.

        Material 1 = Gold (id 1 = Red)
        Material 2 = Silver(id 2 = Green)

        1 BlendMaterial (no id)

1 Blend texture (some Ornaments and used as displacement)

Both materials have a material ID, in the shader and in the shading group. But I tried already different ways. Just IDs in the shading group or just ids in the material.
The Matte Pass gives me just one ID (in this case its just the base) , but not the result of the blended material with the mask. So the result should look like base (id 1), coat (id2), blended by the texture.

        hope this help..

        Thx,

          Hi Kay,

          Sorry for the delay!
We are investigating this issue now, it should have been implemented a while ago like Vlado said.

I'm sorry to inform you that the bug still exist. Its not fixed and now the blend material doesnt give any result anymore. The MatteID output is always black, doesnt matter if the other materials have a material ids or not.

                      I attached my test scene...

                      Tested with Maya 2011

It is fixed only for Material ID pass and you should get a correct result.
For MultiMatte still need to be fixed.

Hope this will improve your workflow for now.

I can't make it work with the multimatte when it is based on material IDs. The multimatte uses the integer material IDs, and I have no way to mix two integers. You will have to use the material ID element instead, which works with the color material IDs and has no problems to blend them.

                              Best regards,
