  • Vray Toon/ Affected Objects Set

Hi, I'm trying to exclude some hair and other pieces of geometry from the Vray Toon Node. I understand what Affected Objects Set is supposed to do but how do I add objects to that set in maya, it doesn't let me type anything in there so. . .? What's is that map button supposed to do?

You can use the Relationship editor to assign objects to the V-Ray toon set. I think the button was supposed to do just that - open the Relationship editor with the set selected, but it doesn't seem to be working for whatever reason...

    Best regards,
    Vlado

ID:	846251Ah ok, that kinda makes sense. I know how to use the connection editor but I'm not sure what channels to use. For example if I wanted to include or exclude the head geometry. Which node channel in the CE do I use for the head? Plus I only see exclude in the Vray Toon node on the right hand collumn within the connection editor. Include doesn't appear to be an option.

        You can do the following:

        *) Create an empty set (Create > Sets > Set);
*) Select the set in the Outliner and open the Connection editor (Window > General editors > Connection Editor)
*) Select VRayToon in the Outliner and click on the "Reload Right" button in the Connection Editor
*) Click any output of the Set (e.g. borderConnections) and connect it to the "excludeList" input of VRayToon
*) Use the Relationship editor (Window > Relationship Editors > Sets) to connect objects to the set, which will be affected by V-Ray toon.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

Thanks a bunch! How is cel shading handled in Vray typically? Is that just done with some kind of a ramp diffuse setup?

You can use the regular Maya Ramp Shader material for this (not the Ramp texture, but the Ramp material). V-Ray supports to some extent.

            Vlado

              Hello Vlado,

the Set In/Exclusion doesn´t seem to work in our build ( vray_adv_22501_maya2013_x64_22488 )
I attached a picture for you. Tried with border connections Output as well, which doesn´t work either. (for the dirt texture "used by" always worked fine)
I just can use the toon shader on all objects or none.

              thanks in advance!

This should actually be fixed in the new nightly builds.

                  Best regards,
                  Vlado
