  • Motion blur on geometry with changing topology?

    Hi there,

    I am importing some effects geometry created in Houdini into a Maya scene file, and the topology changes from frame to frame. I have access to the velocity vectors of the geometry in Maya. Is it possible to use that data to calculate motion blur rather than trying to interpolate between frames?

    Yes, you need to have that data available in Maya as a color set for you mesh and enter the name of that color set in the "Motion Vector Color Set" field of the mesh under its "Mesh Controls" section.

      Great. That's what I need. I have a follow up question: should those be in world space coordinates?

        These should be vectors, not coordinates, so they are in the same space as the vertices are. Here is some help from Autodesk:
