  • Problem getting UDIM working

    Hi there,

I am trying to get UDIM mapping working with the file node in VRay and I am not having any success. If I assign a Lambert shader and view the model in Viewport 2.0, I can see all my textures getting properly applied but if I render this same shader through VRay (or if I connect the file node to a VRayMtl), I get incorrect mapping.
Is there a trick to getting this to work that I am not aware of? It sounded from the documentation like it should just work out of the box.

    Using:
    [2015/Aug/3|19:06:08] V-Ray: V-Ray for Maya version 3.00.01 from Oct 16 2014, 23:36:40
    [2015/Aug/3|19:06:08] V-Ray: V-Ray core version is 3.05.07

use the file tags... think vray doesnt support the file node loading...

You will need to explicitly type the <UDIM> tag into the file name. Or else update to V-Ray 3.10

This is how I have it setup and it's not working... I'm trying to get 3.1 installed but until then, I want to move forward if possible.

Make sure you explicitly and manually edit the file name to contain the <UDIM> tag. V-Ray 3.0 does not recognize the Maya UDIM setting - if you enable the Maya UDIM setting, it will only show the file name as containing the <UDIM> tag, but the actual string in the Image Name field does not really contain "<UDIM>" in it.

          Best regards,
          Vlado
