maya 2016 Ext 1 + SP4 Vray 3.1 SP1
I am trying to do a simple matte surface shader for compositing, but I am getting really strange results. I have tried both the wrapper and the object properties method. I've placed a base material into the wrapper, turned on matte surface, changed alpha contribution to -1, turned on shadows and affect alpha. I believe that is all correct, however when I do this, I get bright spots in my shadow in areas where it should be the darkest. HOWEVER, when I am using ipr or progressive, I do not see this behavior, only in the other image samplers.
Take a look at the attached image. It is of the alpha channel. It includes 2 vray area lights only, a floor and an object. The image on the right is what I believe I should be getting, and the one on the left is what I am getting, which looks very odd when compositing over a plate. I have also attached the scene that these images came from, in case anyone would like to take a look.
Does anyone know what is going on or what I am doing wrong? Thank you so much for any help or clarifications!
