  • Massive VP2 slowdown with VRayLightRect

    Hi,

There is a bug with VP2 and a lot of VRayLightRects. The viewport 2 will slow to a crawl with about 100 lights with a Quadro K620. Legacy viewport is unaffected.

Once the lights are deleted the viewport goes back to levels of expected FPS. This bug/slowdown does not happen with Standard maya lights/gizmos.

Maya 2016x64+SP4 (V-ray 3.15 nightly or any of the 3x stable builds)
    Maya 2020/2022
    Win 10x64
    Vray 5

Are these lights instanced? There is a known bug in Maya with 3rd party instanced nodes. You can only wait for feature Maya releases to fix that, or don't use instancing, or don't use VP 2...
Btw, the issue is logged as MAYA-53574 in Autodesk if you want to follow it.

Thanks, I wasn't aware it was an AD bug. You are correct in that they are instanced lights - good to know and thanks for the workarounds.
