  • UDIM problems...

So, I'm having a problem with a render, but I'm not certain if it is a vray problem or a maya problem.

I have a model with 6 uv tiles. I have diffuse maps mapped to it and spec maps. The diffuse maps work with no problem. The spec maps however don't seem to be working as expected. 4 or 5 of the textures will map correctly but then the 5th and 6th ones will just be black. I've tried manually putting in <UDIM> as well as using the "UV Tiling Mode" drop down in the "file attribute" tab of the file node but I seem to get the same result either way.

I'm using TIFs as the maps. I'm using vray 3.0 and maya 2016.

I'm just wondering if there are known issues with textures and UDIMs. I'm trying trying to avoid sending in a scene, because it's pretty big but thought I'd ask around first.
    Thanks in advance!

i'd say if their names are correct and udim numbers are correct, then it might be a format issue. Try png instead and see if it works.

Thanks Morbid. I'll switch it up and see what happens.

That did not solve the problem. Hmmmm...

I've checked the names and numbers a dozen times and they look fine. Also when I turn on the "UV Tiling Mode" it recognizes all the different tiles, so I assume that wouldn't happen if the naming/numbering were incorrect. Also when I got into the UVs I can SEE all the textures on their correct tiles.

are the tile numbers outside of 1001, 1100 range? i htink there is a limitation of 10x10 grid in maya, if they are beyond that it wont work.

In recent nightly builds this is no longer the case and the full 1001-9999 range is supported.

if you still have a problem perhaps you can email us a small part of the scene which demonstrates the issue.

Yes, I'll see if I can send it this evening. Can I send it to an email address as I can't put it publicly online?
                  Thanks!
