I have this light emitting VRay light material that I wanted to create a multimatte pass with, using material ID tags on the shader. I could not get the material to show up in my multimatte element until I turned off Direct Illumination on the light shader. I tried it consistently in test scenes. Once you turn on Direct Illumination, the shader doesn't pass into the multimatte anymore.
Is this a feature, or a bug? I am working with maya 2015, and Vray 3.10.01. It would be nice to have consistent behavior.
