  • Environment Background & Dome Texture black with Physical Camera

    heja
when using a physical camera and having a texture in environment overwrite, or a dome light with a texture in tex slot will return pure 000 black
The issue persists when unchecking affect background in color mapping.
even when setting the exposure of thee file to something stupid high it results in nothingness.
interesting though, when plugging a vray sky into the background overwrite it will render just fine.

i think this might be a bug? or am i missing something?

i would comp the background like i always do, maybe thats why i never encountered the issue.
right now i´m using a 6x1 stereo cam and just need some sort of backdrop.

    cheers

is your maya scene in meters? If so try changing to cm.

The scene was in meters, and huge. easy 60 km
changing to centimeter did the trick. sort of...
just changing to cm just messed up some stuff.
imported the file in a fresh scene with cm setting. that works fine.

        thanks for the help.
        much appreciated

Yes it works as expected, the issue is not only related to the Environment map but to the illumination in the entire scene.
The default value (20) of Photometric Light Scale works well for centimeters, to preserve the illumination in the scene including the Background and etc when moving from centimeters to meters you should set that value to 0.002.
