  • Glossy Fresnel + Self Illumination Bug

    Hi,

We recently discovered a bug with Glossy Fresnel, if a material has Glossy Fresnel and Self-Illumination then no light is emitted into the scene.

It would be great to use these two features together with the expected behavior.

Here is a simple test scene -

Thanks for letting us know. I've made a note about this in our bug-tracker and I'll update the thread once there's news.

Will look into this, but generally it would be better to use a sphere light or a mesh light in this situation.

      Best regards,

        Thanks for looking into this.

I agree, this was just a test case.

The actual use case was to have textured surface that had only small emissive areas.

        Thanks,
        David.

Ok. FYI we will make this the default behavior of the material. There will be an option to make the self-illumination affect GI, but it will be turned off by default.

Sounds like a great option to have. Would this be a global setting or at a per material level?
