    I've got a "floor" as shown below but it's a nightmare to get a realistic result.

    Here is the shader with a reflection amount of .02.

    However the same shader is below with the only setting changed being the reflection amount to .1



    As you can see it's more accurate. (there is no horizontal cutoff).

    Question is how can I get VRayMtl to behave accurately with low reflection amounts? Cutoff threshold doesn't seem to do anything with this.

    Here's a value which shoes that a "cutoff" starts appearing.

      Set the cutoff of the material to 0.0 and it should go away.

        Thanks Vlado, that's the thing though - setting cutoff didn't affect it this time.

        Maybe it's best if I send in a scene for this one? the shader was acting quite strange.

            Ok, I've got a scene prepared (too large to post though), shall I email it to you again or v-ray support?

            The "bug" appears in the latest public 3.6.01 release.
