Come on vray Devs, a response would be honorable...
Or perhaps lele can you at least derail this one for us

Triplanar maps should work with normal maps, yes. Make sure you set the size/scale parameter correctly.
On meshes without any UV sets, normal maps can show seams, since we need proper UVs to build continuous tangent space matrices.
If that's your case, using bump might be less problematic on these meshes.

            Hi Mihail Kuzev

Sorry but i disagree with you

Do you think this is expected behavour for vraytriplanar and a normalmap on a simple cube, There are 6 lights one on each face, for me the normal map is only working correclty on face 1 and 6.

I have also attached the scene and textrure for you convienence, please load it in maya 2020 latest vray and let me know if this is expected behaviour or a bug or not the intended use of triplaner and normal maps. (if the latter maybe can all have a definate answer from you that it doesnt work and do not use it for normal maps)

            thanks in advance

So what's the problem, is it concave/convex mixed up?

Yes correct, its the fact that on 2 faces it is inverted and 2 faces the highlights are perpendicular to lights. This is just a simple scene to illustrate the problem. I think everyone would expect then to be the same on all faces.

                  Hello!!
w0w very good observation I think you need instead of a Triplanar a Hexplanar !! a little joking while they answer you hehe

but it would be nice to have control in all 6 projections instead of 3!!

                  hugs

here is the reason why it does not work, or does it work? how can we convert tangent space normal into screen space or world space maps?

Maybe the Devs should read this. It looks like vray defaults to the incorrect nieve method refered to in this very insightful link posted by the scope team.

I think we finally understand what's wrong. We've added the information to internal issue with ID: VMAYA-7568
We'll write in this thread when there's progress on the issue.
