  • Material ID

Instead of adding the material ID to the ShadingGroup node, it would be nice if it was added to the actual material.

When you export materials the SG node is not exported, because it only appears if it is applied to an object. So in my case where I have a material library, I have to assign material ID's manually every time, instead of having the attribute added and saved with the library.

    Does that make sense ?
    Kind regards

I think it would anyway be good to have an option to add it automatically with random colors !

If you're using the Hypershade's "Export selected network" you can select the shading group and export that. This will include the shading group in the resulting .ma file and will bring it back when importing. Otherwise, we have both of these ( the second being the random material id color) noted for fixing.
