  • Energy preservation mode

    It would be nice to have energy preservation mode in the vray material with RGB and monochrome.
    Is this possible?

    Yes, it is on the "to do" list, but requires some more heavy reworking of the way the V-Ray material is translated in Maya. We will get there eventually.

          Does this have a big effect on overall light bounce in scenes? It is interesting because I know mental ray mia_materials obey this law, kind of surprised to see this not supported in Maya (as of yet of course).

            No, it does not affect the overall light; it's just a different way of distributing light between the reflection and the diffuse layer.

              I know that it's a very old thread to revive, but still I cannot find it in the latest 2.45 night builds.Has it been actually implemented?

                Not yet; you can get it through the BRDFVRayMtl material if you create one explicitly from Create > V-Ray > Create from plugin > BRDF material.
