  • viewport 2 shader support

I know this isn't in the cards for VRay 2.0 but Maya 2012 makes the ridiculously fast Viewport 2 usable for modelling, texturing and rigging. It's going to be 90% of what I use but V-Ray shaders show up as a pink Phong. From what I gathered from beta testing, there is an API for accessing the shaders. mental ray shaders get full support for diffuse, specular, gloss, transparency, bump/normals, self-illumination, and it would be great if V-Ray could too.

Some initial support for Viewport 2.0 will be included with Beta 2 for V-Ray 2.0 next week. Not everything is supported as of yet (e.g. bump mapping), and not everything is accessible with the API, but it should be better than pink

    Best regards,
    Vlado
