    Modos shader group are set by default to apply to instance. So if you have an item shader group and create an instance, the shader is automatic applied to the instance. That works well with Vray, but not with V-Ray proxy. So you have the same proxy, and even done an instance of it, the shader group won't work.
    This could be very useful especially on complex mesh, because it adds performance to the scene when a shader is only applied to a certain item or item group. To sad it doesn't work with proxies.

    Yes, it's a known issue.
    It happens because the V-Ray Proxy doesn't really have instances within Modo.
    Only Modo editable/static meshes can have instances as far as I remember.
    I couldn't figure it out for the custom geometry object that the V-Ray Proxy is.

      Ok. Well maybe in the future you can.. would be very helpful. Somehow we all need a shader proxy, cross platform, cross software, cross render... live sucks.
