  • Importing Geometry & Black Rendering.

    Update:
Nevermind, I found the reason. The V-Ray Material renders by default double sided and the "Glass-Mesh" was back facing the camera therefore invisible.

    Hello Vladimir

It seems I run again into a bug that is related to importing geometry and getting a black rendering.
Last time it was scene framerate and the exposure settings of the Physical camera.

This time, when I import a model and I add a v-ray material v-ray is rendering a black screen,
using the modo material v-ray renders correctly.

To test, you can get the model from the CGSociety Lighting Challenges

Yes, there is a big polygon covering the window opening. That polygon's back side is facing the inside of the room. When you make the material double-sided, it won't let any GI inside the room, so it renders all black.

By the way, you can improve the "exporting keyframe" performance for this scene by converting the "DetailWall" mesh (that's how it is called when you import using the FBX scene) to MODO's static mesh
(right click on it and then Change Type -> Static Mesh). If you imported from the .obj format, you'll need to first select the high-poly wall polygons and cut and paste them in a new mesh).
MODO's static meshes can be accessed using a special API interface that is very fast.
