  • store Irradiance map

    Does vray have this to speed up rerenders, I cannot find it in the interface.

    Yes, in the V-Ray GI tab in the Render settings.

      You can choose to auto-save the irradiance map after rendering or manually save it using the Save button.
      Use the mode option to switch between generating a new irradiance map or loading an existing one from disk.

      Note that the Auto save and Load file path channels are different.

        thanks, I take it that one uses modo's save/load function and its not somewhere in the Vray interface other than enabling it in Vray lights

          Oh, you originally meant the Store with Irradiance Map option for the lights ?

          You should generally avoid this as it leads to lower quality soft shadows.
          But, yes, that's where you enable it, from the V-Ray Light tab.

          I take it that one uses modo's save/load function
          I am not sure which save/load function you are talking about.
